Top Wrestling MVPs 2020

Hi guys, How crazy has 2020 has been? With everything going on in the world, it seems as if 2021 couldn't come any sooner. However, even with all of this negativity, I think it's vital to try and find some positives.  Despite conditions making it hard for the wrestling industry, many companies have thrived during the pandemic. In particular, some wrestlers have managed to make the best out of a bad situation and continue trying to put on shows for fans whether in person or through streaming sites.  To mark the end of another year, I'm back with my annual wrestling MVP list of the wrestlers who have stood out this year. Just a quick note, most of the stuff I've watched this year is Japanese wrestling (NJPW, DDT and TJPW)! Yuka Sakazaki 2020 has been a great year for in the sense that I've had the time to fully get into Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling. For me, it's something I regret not doing earlier because it is full of some amazing wrestlers from Miu, Miyu Yamashita...

My Top 5 Jr Heavyweights

Image
Hi guys, I've always been pretty vocal about my love for Jr Heayweights/ Cruiserweights (whatever you want to call it) and I've been pretty vocal about their treatment in some companies( https://wrestling-chatter.blogspot.com/2019/01/heavyweight-v-jr-heavyweight.html ). In a world where there are so many amazing wrestlers in this category, I gave myself the impossible task of picking my top 5. Just a quick note, there are so many amazing ones that this list is always changing! 1. David Starr There was no way I could have a list on the top Jrs and not have David Starr on the list. Even though Starr has won Heavyweight titles, he prides himself on his stance and is probably the most prestigious Cruiserweight champs (Rev Pro) in the entire world! I think that's why he's at the top. He prides himself on being one of the most well rounded Jrs I've seen with his style perfectly blending mat wrestling and a little bit of that good old high flying. He uses this hybri...

Defiant Unstoppable Live Experience

Image
Hi guys, Sometimes there's nothing I love more than a bit of live wrestling and I don't always get the chance to go and watch it live either because of timing issues or costs. However, I was lucky enough last Saturday to go to watch Defiant Wrestling's PPV Unstoppable as well as a taping of their weekly show Loaded (which airs on YouTube). I didn't really know what to expect when I dragged my mum along (she loves it really) to the Manchester Academy in the cold to watch some of my favourite wrestlers, but I was happily surprised at how amazing it was! This post's going to look at my experience and, because by the time this is published the shows will have been aired, there will be spoilers in this post just to warn you if you wan't to go and watch them, but I'll try to avoid writing who won each match but rather the highlights. I've never been to an, I guess you could say, independent show which hasn't been run by either WWE or NJPW so I did...

2018 Wrestling MVP's

Image
Hi guys, First of all, Merry Christmas. Secondly, what a year 2018 has been for wrestling - there's been ups and downs but in the end of it, without wrestling, my life would've been very different. Wrestling really isn't what it is without the wrestlers themselves and there's been some right stand outs this year so here's my list of MVP's who have really stood out for me in a business that's full of so much talent! 1. Jay White Me and this blog have made no secret of the fact that Jay White is probably my favourite wrestler but it's not just my bias that's put him no.1 on this list - he's had a hell of a 2018! After coming back from excursion and losing his match against Tanahashi for the IC belt, he got back on course by joining Chaos and then beating Kenny Omega for the US title on the 28th January which he had great defences with against likes of Hangman Page and David Finlay. Even after losing the title, with the likes of the G1 wins ...

My NJPW/ Rev Pro SSE Experience

Image
Hi guys, Considering my last blog post was about NJPW, this post is a nice follow up because, on Sunday, I was lucky enough to go to the joint NJPW show run by Rev Pro at Altrincham Ice Rink which had some of the top New Japan stars and some Rev Pro talent. I found out last week that I was going to be graduating from university with a 2:1 in history, so it was the perfect way to end the perfect week of good luck, good weather and amazing wrestling! I guess it's easiest to start chronologically but without all of the boring bits. So, I got to the venue at about 1:30 for the meet and greet - it was pretty scary to start with because it was the first time I was going to meet any wrestlers and I was doing it alone. I'd paid £50 for the entry ticket and to meet my favourite Switchblade Jay White and Aerial Assassin Will Ospreay who, if you've read my other posts, will know are my two fave wrestlers. They are probably some of the nicest people (and badass in the case of ...
