Top Wrestling MVPs 2020

Hi guys, How crazy has 2020 has been? With everything going on in the world, it seems as if 2021 couldn't come any sooner. However, even with all of this negativity, I think it's vital to try and find some positives.  Despite conditions making it hard for the wrestling industry, many companies have thrived during the pandemic. In particular, some wrestlers have managed to make the best out of a bad situation and continue trying to put on shows for fans whether in person or through streaming sites.  To mark the end of another year, I'm back with my annual wrestling MVP list of the wrestlers who have stood out this year. Just a quick note, most of the stuff I've watched this year is Japanese wrestling (NJPW, DDT and TJPW)! Yuka Sakazaki 2020 has been a great year for in the sense that I've had the time to fully get into Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling. For me, it's something I regret not doing earlier because it is full of some amazing wrestlers from Miu, Miyu Yamashita...

My Top 5 Heels

Image
Hi guys, Well, hasn't it been a crazy few weeks for wrestling. The Coronavirus stopped a lot of Japanese shows, Goldberg became the WWE Universal Champion and then was challenged by Roman Reigns, Chris Brookes wants to make Antonio Honda bleed and DDT's MAO wore shorts for the first time in what seemed like forever. I also had my first attempt at ring announcing and didn't completely make a fool of myself. Yet, in the midst of all that, I thought it was about time to get another list out. If any of you listened to my podcast last week then this will make sense, if you didn't then make sure to go and listen to it now (or after you've read this post). Basically, I spoke about the whole concept of being a heel and whether it's plausible or not in this day and age. My conclusion was pretty inconclusive but I think that wrestling isn't black or white. However, despite that, heels are a must in wrestling and I thought I'd have a look and see who my to...

Chatter With: Justin Sysum

Image
Hi guys, If any of you have followed my posts, you'll have seen my focus on British talent and my attempts to be a world class interviewer (attempt being the key word). On a (very cold) trip to see Defiant Wrestling at the Manchester Academy, I got to speak to the one and only World of Sport Champ Justin Sysum about all things wrestling, Marvel and moving to Wales. What was your first memory of wrestling or your first experience? It would’ve been watching TNT movies when I was a kid and secretly watching WCW in my bedroom. We didn’t have Sky or anything so occasionally I’d pop to my friends house up the street and we’d watch a Wrestlemania or something. It was definitely WCW and Goldberg, just seeing him kicking and punching thin air was brilliant. You said you started wrestling at 27, was that when you first decided you wanted to be a wrestler?  I always had in the back of my mind the thought that wrestling might be something fun to do. There was no intention to start ...

WWE Wrestlemania Predictions

Image
Hi guys,  With Wrestlemania around the corner, I thought I'd try something different and, instead of defo doing a WM weekend reactions post, I want to some sort of prediction/ what I expect from WM this year. I don't think this will include NXT Takeover fully but I will put a small section at the start with those brief predictions. NXT Takeover Aleister Black vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas (c) - NXT championship Winner: Aleister Black Ember Moon (c) vs. Shayna Baszler - NXT Women’s title Winner: Ember Moon EC3, Ricochet, Adam Cole, Killian Dain, Velveteen Dream and Lars Sullivan in a Ladder Match - NXT North American champion Winner: Ricochet  Authors of Pain vs. Pete Dunne & Roderick Strong vs. Undisputed ERA - Finals of The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament for the NXT Tag Team titles Winner: Undisputed Era Wrestlemania 34 In terms of the Battle Royals, I know it's really just two matches to make sure that all the superstars...

Why the Miz could, and should, be THE GUY of WWE

Image
Hi guys, I know its a bit weird writing this post just as Miz lost his IC title and is off to film the final instalment of Marine 5... or is it?  The Miz is probably one of the veterans of WWE and has probably been there for one of the longest periods (obviously minus Cena, Kane etc). Yet, his career seems to be a series of mid card positions and failed top card attempts (which is no fault of the Miz but booking *is that any surprise*) when really, to me, he seems to be one of the stars holding the company together.  I think he may be the best heel the company has had for so long, probably the best in the modern era. Okay, he doesn't keep kayfabe because we all know he's such a sweetheart and so friendly but that doesn't matter. Whenever he's in the ring, he just seems to attract heat from the crowd and genuinely come across as though he hates everything and everyone that comes near him, except Maryse and the Miztourage! It seems as if he's that one c...
