Top Wrestling MVPs 2020

Hi guys, How crazy has 2020 has been? With everything going on in the world, it seems as if 2021 couldn't come any sooner. However, even with all of this negativity, I think it's vital to try and find some positives.  Despite conditions making it hard for the wrestling industry, many companies have thrived during the pandemic. In particular, some wrestlers have managed to make the best out of a bad situation and continue trying to put on shows for fans whether in person or through streaming sites.  To mark the end of another year, I'm back with my annual wrestling MVP list of the wrestlers who have stood out this year. Just a quick note, most of the stuff I've watched this year is Japanese wrestling (NJPW, DDT and TJPW)! Yuka Sakazaki 2020 has been a great year for in the sense that I've had the time to fully get into Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling. For me, it's something I regret not doing earlier because it is full of some amazing wrestlers from Miu, Miyu Yamashita...

NJPW: LA Dojo Young Lions Profile

Image
Hi guys, After my last post where I majorly fangirled about the Young Lion Cup, I thought that there might be some of them you don't know much about. If any of you missed it, I did one for the Japanese Young Lions (updated version) which you can read here https://wrestling-chatter.blogspot.com/2019/02/young-lions-njpw.html . But, thought I'd do one for the LA Lions who have really been impressing me lately and that's hard for me to say as a loyal Noge Dojo fan! But, they are really amazing and I wanted to get to know the future of NJPW a bit more! Credit: Alex Coughlin (somethingsomethingdeadlift) on IG Clark Connors Known as the LA Dojo Captain, Washington's Clark Connors started training under Lance Storm in Canada and was seen as one of the most 'promising prospects'. Debuting in 2017 for independent promotions across America like BWW, ASW and PCW, Connors cemented himself as a strong mat technician. Although smaller in size and stature compared...

#TNG Experience

Image
Hi guys, I spent my Tuesday night in a small comedy club in the centre of Manchester surrounded by a lot of bodies and dealing with a lack of sleep. I wouldn't have changed any of it for the world.  On Tuesday evening, I went to the Frog and Bucket with my friend to watch Tuesday Night Graps (sub-promotion from IPW). What was exciting was the fact that it was my friends first ever live wrestling show. He's obviously watched it but this was his first live experience and I don't know whether to be proud or sorry that this was what I took him too. It was my first time at a Tuesday Night Graps, but I sort of knew what to expect and it met all expectations! It was the perfect mix of wrestling, story telling, comedy and times where I was like WTF. This was even considering the fact that the card was put together by Dunkzilla very last minute and he didn't even know if everyone would make it (as seen by the lack of Martin Kirby and O.J.M.O) hey @TheOJMO @Chuck...

Chatter With: Gabriel Kidd (Part Two)

Image
Hi guys, Last week I posted part one of my interview with Gabriel Kidd ( https://wrestling-chatter.blogspot.com/2019/03/chatter-with-gabriel-kidd-part-one.html ) and spoke to him about his wrestling beginnings, his influences and taking part of World of Sport. So, as promised, here's part two where we got to the nitty gritty of Kidd's wrestling career, especially his time at the NJPW Dojo, dream opponents and what the future holds for someone with such a long and thriving career ahead of them! I am a massive fan of NJPW, so can’t not mention the fact that I saw on Twitter that you spent 12 days in LA at the NJPW Dojo training under the legend that is Katsuyori Shibata, what was that like? Easily the best and most eye-opening experience so far of my young life. That’s the kind of style of wrestling I watch, I love the Japanese style and old and new Japanese wrestling style. When I got the opportunity to go there and train with Shibata-san, it was just a really eye openi...

Chatter With: Gabriel Kidd (Part One)

Image
Hi guys,  Last month, I was lucky enough to have had a really great in-depth chat with one of the hottest young veteran wrestlers in the UK Gabriel Kidd. So, here's part one of my interview where we spoke about how Kidd got into wrestling, his influences, Defiant Wrestling and of course his part in the resurgence of World of Sport! So, welcome to my newest segment called ' Chatter With' (do you get it... you know Wrestling Chatter )...  Everyone’s love of wrestling starts at different stages of their lives, how old were you when you got interested in wrestling and what started the love in the first place? I can work out my exact age and I was probably about 9 or 10. My dad’s Irish and I was in Ireland visiting my grandma who had Sky Sports. We were flicking through the channels and wrestling was on. As soon as the screen came on, Mark Henry was in the ring and then the Undertaker’s music hit and he made his entrance. From there, I was just glued to the TV. I love...

Defiant Unstoppable Live Experience

Image
Hi guys, Sometimes there's nothing I love more than a bit of live wrestling and I don't always get the chance to go and watch it live either because of timing issues or costs. However, I was lucky enough last Saturday to go to watch Defiant Wrestling's PPV Unstoppable as well as a taping of their weekly show Loaded (which airs on YouTube). I didn't really know what to expect when I dragged my mum along (she loves it really) to the Manchester Academy in the cold to watch some of my favourite wrestlers, but I was happily surprised at how amazing it was! This post's going to look at my experience and, because by the time this is published the shows will have been aired, there will be spoilers in this post just to warn you if you wan't to go and watch them, but I'll try to avoid writing who won each match but rather the highlights. I've never been to an, I guess you could say, independent show which hasn't been run by either WWE or NJPW so I did...
