Top Wrestling MVPs 2020

Hi guys, How crazy has 2020 has been? With everything going on in the world, it seems as if 2021 couldn't come any sooner. However, even with all of this negativity, I think it's vital to try and find some positives.  Despite conditions making it hard for the wrestling industry, many companies have thrived during the pandemic. In particular, some wrestlers have managed to make the best out of a bad situation and continue trying to put on shows for fans whether in person or through streaming sites.  To mark the end of another year, I'm back with my annual wrestling MVP list of the wrestlers who have stood out this year. Just a quick note, most of the stuff I've watched this year is Japanese wrestling (NJPW, DDT and TJPW)! Yuka Sakazaki 2020 has been a great year for in the sense that I've had the time to fully get into Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling. For me, it's something I regret not doing earlier because it is full of some amazing wrestlers from Miu, Miyu Yamashita...

Wrestlemania Reactions

Image
Hi guys, Well, we've just come to the end of not only the first ever 2-day Wrestlemania but also the first ever no-vacancy Wrestlemania and who would I be if I didn't do a review of both of the shows over the weekend? I didn't know whether to do this as a post or podcast but I'll probably do a brief overview in this post and then a more in-depth podcast about it all! Saturday Night  The first night of Wrestlemania started off with great promise. The Kabuki Warriors v Alexa Bliss/ Nikki Cross for the women's tag titles was a great way to start the show and was proof that you can have amazing matches without a massive crowd. As always, Asuka thrived in that environment and was able to really show off her personality as a proper heel with Kairi Sane which was the perfect antidote to their babyface opponents. The match combined technical, high flying and the chaos we all expected which was amazing despite the fact that the Kabuki Warriors lost.  ...

5 Things I learnt from Survivor Series 2019

Image
Hi Guys, The last few weeks have been crazy in the world of wrestling from NJPW to AEW to WWE to all the independent promotions we all love to watch. This weekend was no exception with not only NXT Takeover: War Games, but also Survivor Series. Also, for the first time, there were matches not only between the red and blue brand, but also WWE's black and gold brand: RAW v Smackdown Live v NXT. On Saturday night, NXT once again put on an amazing set of matches showcasing some of the best and most diverse athletes in the entire industry and every match turned out. We had an amazing triple threat match between Pete Dunne, Damian Priest and Killian Dane mixing strong style and crazy athletics as well as an amazingly brutal singles match between Finn Balor and Matt Riddle. As expected the main war games match between Undisputed Era and the dream team of Tomasso Ciampa, Kevin Owens, Keith Lee and Dijakovic was phenomenal. However, my stand out match of the night was the women...

My favourite wrestlers (revisited)

Image
Hi guys, It seems like ages since I've been posting constantly because, as I keep repeating to people, university has a way of getting in the way of fun . However, it's not managed to stop be enjoying wrestling and, over the last few weeks, I've managed to broaden my wrestling mind and become invested in NJPW. This which has added another promotion for me to try and keep on top of. With that in mind, I thought it was time to update my favourite wrestlers and make it harder to make the list by combining all of the promotions together. Most are pretty cliche, but that's what happens when certain superstars reach the top of their game - they become everyone's favourite superstars! 1. Will Ospreay Will Ospreay is a name that will probably always be on this list because it seems as if Ospreay finds new ways to amaze me every time I see him wrestle. Like I can't tell you one bad match he's had because there aren't any - he can pull a good match out ...

Wrestlemania 34 Reactions *spoilers*

Image
Hi guys, Another year, another Wrestlemania and another mixed set of matches and results. I normally do this sort of thing match by match but I'm finding it monotonous so I am trying something different - maybe it'll work, maybe it won't. Overall, I think that this year's WM was alright. There were some amazing matches, there were some meh matches, there were some good booking and there was some awful bookings of the superstars.  The Pre-Show The disappointment of the pre-show only came from the messy Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal because the CW championship and Women's Battle Royal was very good for a pre-show. The women's match was filled with rivalries and stories from the use of Paige on commentary to the NXT girls teaming together and giving the main roster women a run for their money. I was so happy and surprised that Naomi won but it was well deserved and could be the start of another push. I also can't praise Cedric Alexander an...

WWE Wrestlemania Predictions

Image
Hi guys,  With Wrestlemania around the corner, I thought I'd try something different and, instead of defo doing a WM weekend reactions post, I want to some sort of prediction/ what I expect from WM this year. I don't think this will include NXT Takeover fully but I will put a small section at the start with those brief predictions. NXT Takeover Aleister Black vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas (c) - NXT championship Winner: Aleister Black Ember Moon (c) vs. Shayna Baszler - NXT Women’s title Winner: Ember Moon EC3, Ricochet, Adam Cole, Killian Dain, Velveteen Dream and Lars Sullivan in a Ladder Match - NXT North American champion Winner: Ricochet  Authors of Pain vs. Pete Dunne & Roderick Strong vs. Undisputed ERA - Finals of The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament for the NXT Tag Team titles Winner: Undisputed Era Wrestlemania 34 In terms of the Battle Royals, I know it's really just two matches to make sure that all the superstars...

WWE Royal Rumble Matches (Men's and Women's) Reaction

Image
Hi guys, I'm an old lady so I had to wait until this morning to watch the Royal Rumble but by god wasn't it worth the wait. The two rumble matches were so amazing that I can't even do my usual match by match commentary because these two matches alone was worth a post! The men's rumble was obviously amazing but I have to say that, with the curfuffle of the MitB, the women really hit it out of the park in every single way. But, let's not get too excited too quickly... Men's Royal Rumble: Shinsuke Nakamura Before I start, I have to say: thank god for the winner because I got really scared that Roman was going to win near the end... imagine that! I'm not a Roman hater but I don't care for him, especially after what he did in the match (more to come later). It started with good ol' Rusev day and by god that pop was something to behold: I love the way that Rusev's embracing the love from the WWE Universe and the fact that his first opponen...

Summerslam Reaction

Hey guys, After the success of Saturday night's NXT Takeover: Brooklyn, I knew that no matter how hard the main roster tried, they would never be able to reach the standard of NXT. The show produced high quality in all matches put on from the well deserved win for Drew McIntyre, the balls of Nikki Cross, the 100/100 women's championship match AND Adam Cole debut, it seems as if NXT can do now wrong. If I could, I would've reacted to that but it all seemed too good to even criticise! It was time to see if the main roster could stand up against NXT for one of the biggest PPV of the year! The Hardy Boyz and Jason Jordan v The Miz and Miztourage As much as I am upset that the IC title isn't being defended, I have to be grateful that The Miz (one of my favourites) even has a match. This was a good match, not a main card match but a very good match nevertheless. I didn't doubt that it would've been with legends like The Hardy's and The Miz - it ...
