Top Wrestling MVPs 2020

Hi guys, How crazy has 2020 has been? With everything going on in the world, it seems as if 2021 couldn't come any sooner. However, even with all of this negativity, I think it's vital to try and find some positives.  Despite conditions making it hard for the wrestling industry, many companies have thrived during the pandemic. In particular, some wrestlers have managed to make the best out of a bad situation and continue trying to put on shows for fans whether in person or through streaming sites.  To mark the end of another year, I'm back with my annual wrestling MVP list of the wrestlers who have stood out this year. Just a quick note, most of the stuff I've watched this year is Japanese wrestling (NJPW, DDT and TJPW)! Yuka Sakazaki 2020 has been a great year for in the sense that I've had the time to fully get into Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling. For me, it's something I regret not doing earlier because it is full of some amazing wrestlers from Miu, Miyu Yamashita...

BOSJ 26 Preview - Block A

Image
Hi guys, With the largest Best of Super Jr line up ever on the cards and all of the events being broadcast live and with English subtitles, May is going to be a damn good month of wrestling. Obviously, as the line up is so big, I'm going to split this preview into two and this post will focus on the participants in Block A! Dragon Lee As the IWGP Jr Heavyweight Champion, Dragon Lee has probably the biggest target on his back. Even though everyone is gunning to pick up as many wins as possible, the main win they will all want is against Lee because it guarantees a title shot in the future. However, Lee stands in good stead against his competitors because of his perfect combination of speed and agility in the ring. Even though he's one of the youngest competitors in the field, with the title around his waste, he's already one step above all his opponents. Within this block alone, I am looking forward to another match between him and Taiji Ishmori and his fellow CMLL w...

Heavyweight v Jr Heavyweight

Image
Hi guys, I've been watching wrestling for around 3 and a half years but it wasn't until the Cruiserweight Classic where I started to become more aware about different divisions in different companies. For wrestlers under a specific weight limit, Cruiserweights is the term used by most companies for wrestlers but in Japan they're known as Junior heavyweights. Each company also has a different weight classification but that doesn't mean you're restricted to being a Jr/ Cruiserweight if you're under this limit as seen by Kota Ibushi, Young Bucks, Finn Balor etc - you just can't be part of the division if you're over. So, if that's the basics then why am I writing this post? It all links to something Marty Scurll said in the Best of Super Junior Conference in May (cast your little minds back): "I'm dedicated to making this junior division the best in the world. I hate the idea that this Jr division is less than and the fact that peo...

The Unofficial Guide to NJPW Wrestlers (part 1)

Image
Hi guys, I hope you can all guess what this blog post is going to be about and so I am going to introduce you to part one of my unofficial guide to New Japan Pro Wrestling wrestlers in one sentence. If it doesn't make sense (and I don't see how it doesn't) then here's a run down: I'm going to describe each member of every NJPW faction in one sentence. Just a note before you read it: take it all with a pinch of salt because they're not meant to be serious and I'm just having a bit of fun. Either you'll get my humour and laugh along or you'll hate me - it's up to you how you take it! I'll also be doing it in two separate posts because I know too much of my humour will be too much for some of you and it's also a lot to read so I'd much rather do two separate ones... so enjoy! Taguchi Japan (my favourite faction) Ryusuke Taguchi - Coach pervert who likes hitting people with his funky weapon ass Hiroshi Tanahashi - Dad with beauti...

All In changing the Game!

Hi guys, It seems like you can't search wrestling without seeing the name 'Bullet Club' and it shows what all the members have done to build wrestling up to be more than just sports entertainment - they've made it a lifestyle. So, when Cody Rhodes, Nick and Matt Jackson (Young Bucks) decided to take a risk and put on a massive wrestling mega show, apart from a few critics, we were 'All In' (sorry about that pun)! They imagined putting on the biggest ever independent wrestling show with talent from all over the world, from different promotions, giving fans a completely different experience! Fast forward to the 1st September and All In became a real thing and set records and sold out in 30 minuted, something none of the guys expected but most of us fans knew would probably happen! After the announcement, All In stayed in the spotlight whether it was the guys announcing matches or the people who were going to be involved or keeping the hype alive on Yout...

My Favourite Non-WWE Wrestlers

Image
Hi guys, I always write a lot about WWE and their wrestlers but, nowadays, you don't need to watch them to get your wrestling dose (sometimes there is even a better quality of wrestling away from WWE). I have to say that it wasn't until a year and a bit ago that I really got into other companies and I can't image my life without it now. You've got ROH, TNA, New Japan and the amazing UK promotions: Progress, Defiant, ICW, IPW - the list is endless! I know a lot of these wrestlers in the list seem a bit obvious and mainstream but they really are some of the best wrestlers in the world to me (not just because of their in ring ability but the whole package). I love a lot of other independent guys but these are the ones that I've really connected with the most and just love watching in the ring and out! Will Ospreay Will Ospreay is one of those wrestlers that you can't really take your eyes off when he's in the ring! The appropriately named 'Aerial Assa...
