Top Wrestling MVPs 2020

Hi guys, How crazy has 2020 has been? With everything going on in the world, it seems as if 2021 couldn't come any sooner. However, even with all of this negativity, I think it's vital to try and find some positives.  Despite conditions making it hard for the wrestling industry, many companies have thrived during the pandemic. In particular, some wrestlers have managed to make the best out of a bad situation and continue trying to put on shows for fans whether in person or through streaming sites.  To mark the end of another year, I'm back with my annual wrestling MVP list of the wrestlers who have stood out this year. Just a quick note, most of the stuff I've watched this year is Japanese wrestling (NJPW, DDT and TJPW)! Yuka Sakazaki 2020 has been a great year for in the sense that I've had the time to fully get into Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling. For me, it's something I regret not doing earlier because it is full of some amazing wrestlers from Miu, Miyu Yamashita

Heavyweight v Jr Heavyweight

Hi guys, I've been watching wrestling for around 3 and a half years but it wasn't until the Cruiserweight Classic where I started to become more aware about different divisions in different companies. For wrestlers under a specific weight limit, Cruiserweights is the term used by most companies for wrestlers but in Japan they're known as Junior heavyweights. Each company also has a different weight classification but that doesn't mean you're restricted to being a Jr/ Cruiserweight if you're under this limit as seen by Kota Ibushi, Young Bucks, Finn Balor etc - you just can't be part of the division if you're over. So, if that's the basics then why am I writing this post? It all links to something Marty Scurll said in the Best of Super Junior Conference in May (cast your little minds back): "I'm dedicated to making this junior division the best in the world. I hate the idea that this Jr division is less than and the fact that peo

All Elite Wrestling

Hi guys, It feels like it's only been a few days since I last wrote about Kenny and Kushida leaving NJPW (because it literally was a few days ago) and, as I promised, here's a look at the new wrestling promotion All Elite Wrestling (AEW) including who's been announced to be on the roster and what AEW is doing for the wrestling business! It's been a massive announcement for all of wrestling and even though it's bittersweet because we won't be seeing the guys on NJPW or ROH, I'm so excited to see what the future holds for a company created by amazing wrestlers. Signings The Elite (The Young Bucks, Cody, Brandi and Hangman Page) I mean it's probably a bit obvious but I'm putting them in the list anyway because they had an official contract signing and everything on Being the Elite! It was always obvious that The Bucks and Cody would sign but I was a bit surprised about Adam Page and it's also a bit of a shame because I was loving

Farewell Kenny Omega and Kushida (in NJPW)

Hi guys, Well, what a crazy ass start to the year it's been. We've had Wrestle Kingdom, the creation of All Elite Wrestling and rumour mill central... it seemed pretty obvious that most of the Elite were leaving NJPW because of AEW, but there was always one question mark: Kenny Omega. There were also rumours of the Ace of the NJPW Jr Heavyweight division, Kushida, leaving. Unfortunately for me and NJPW fans, the two big rumours about Kenny and Kushida turned out to be right and, at the Press Conference on the 7th January, it was announced that both Kenny Omega and Kushida would be leaving NJPW, as well as Takashi Iizka having his retirement.  I definitely think that Iizka has had an amazing career and cemented himself as a true Suzuki Gun player, so I don't think it's as sad because, to retire, he must know he's had the career he's wanted. However, Kushida and Kenny have a long career ahead of them and it feels like their time has only just started.

Wrestle Kingdom 13 Reactions *spoilers*

Hi guys, Before I get into this exciting post and possibly very long ass post - HAPPY NEW YEAR (right, we've got the formalities out of the way). So, if you've been reading this blog recently, you'll know that NJPW always gets me very excited and on Friday 4th Jan, we had the biggest event of the year at the Tokyo Dome... Wrestle Kingdom 13. I got a day off work and sat my bum on the sofa from 7am (after getting up at 6:30am) to watch an event with one of the most stacked cards I've ever seen from a wrestling show! All I can say is, wow! It was the first WK I've watched where I was fully into the company and all the storylines (last year was just Ospreay's match and Kenny v Jericho) and I was at the edge of my seat for every single match, also my prediction tally at the end was 7-3 (which is pretty damn good considering my past records).   So, here are my reactions to all 5 hours of Wrestle Kingdom 13 including the pre-show: Wrestle Kingdom started wit
