Top Wrestling MVPs 2020

Hi guys, How crazy has 2020 has been? With everything going on in the world, it seems as if 2021 couldn't come any sooner. However, even with all of this negativity, I think it's vital to try and find some positives.  Despite conditions making it hard for the wrestling industry, many companies have thrived during the pandemic. In particular, some wrestlers have managed to make the best out of a bad situation and continue trying to put on shows for fans whether in person or through streaming sites.  To mark the end of another year, I'm back with my annual wrestling MVP list of the wrestlers who have stood out this year. Just a quick note, most of the stuff I've watched this year is Japanese wrestling (NJPW, DDT and TJPW)! Yuka Sakazaki 2020 has been a great year for in the sense that I've had the time to fully get into Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling. For me, it's something I regret not doing earlier because it is full of some amazing wrestlers from Miu, Miyu Yamashita...

News: New Japan and DDT Shows Cancelled due to Coronavirus

Image
Hi guys, So according to my blog plan, I was set to release two blog posts this week looking at the lineup for the New Japan Cup. However, latest news has changed all of that and I assume you know what I'm going tot all about by the title. Hopefully this post will give you some more information on the status of both New Japan Pro Wrestling and DDT shows in the upcoming weeks. Previously, certain promotions in Japan such as Stardom have cancelled their shows or made it an empty arena show because of the threat of the Coronavirus. However, this was only a few shows and not widespread. However, today, New Japan issued this statement: In light of recommendations made by the Japanese Ministry of Health connected to Coronavirus COVID-19, NJPW has arrived at the decision to cancel all events between March 1 and March 15. Statement: https://t.co/05cqsxEPAX #njpw pic.twitter.com/A4ZSHDeGPi — NJPW Global (@njpwglobal) February 26, 2020 The statement basically expla...

Wrestling MVPs 2019

Image
Hi guys, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I can't believe it's already 2020 and 2019 seems like a distant memory... But, what a 2019 it has been? Never mind what a year it's been in professional wrestling. It seems as if I've been spending more of this year watching wrestling and writing about it than anything else. Because of this, it almost seems impossible for me to write about a year in wrestling because I wouldn't even know where to start. Even if I just looked at one promotion, for example my fave New Japan, there could be a post per month which is crazy. So, I thought that the best thing to do would be to look at all the promotions I watch and pick my MVP wrestlers of the year. I'm taking on board a lot of different things when making these choices including level of improvement, how much I've enjoyed watching them and obviously how well they've done in matches this year. However, I've given myself a near impossible task by only picking 5 and I ca...

#TNG Experience

Image
Hi guys, I spent my Tuesday night in a small comedy club in the centre of Manchester surrounded by a lot of bodies and dealing with a lack of sleep. I wouldn't have changed any of it for the world.  On Tuesday evening, I went to the Frog and Bucket with my friend to watch Tuesday Night Graps (sub-promotion from IPW). What was exciting was the fact that it was my friends first ever live wrestling show. He's obviously watched it but this was his first live experience and I don't know whether to be proud or sorry that this was what I took him too. It was my first time at a Tuesday Night Graps, but I sort of knew what to expect and it met all expectations! It was the perfect mix of wrestling, story telling, comedy and times where I was like WTF. This was even considering the fact that the card was put together by Dunkzilla very last minute and he didn't even know if everyone would make it (as seen by the lack of Martin Kirby and O.J.M.O) hey @TheOJMO @Chuck...

Defiant Unstoppable Live Experience

Image
Hi guys, Sometimes there's nothing I love more than a bit of live wrestling and I don't always get the chance to go and watch it live either because of timing issues or costs. However, I was lucky enough last Saturday to go to watch Defiant Wrestling's PPV Unstoppable as well as a taping of their weekly show Loaded (which airs on YouTube). I didn't really know what to expect when I dragged my mum along (she loves it really) to the Manchester Academy in the cold to watch some of my favourite wrestlers, but I was happily surprised at how amazing it was! This post's going to look at my experience and, because by the time this is published the shows will have been aired, there will be spoilers in this post just to warn you if you wan't to go and watch them, but I'll try to avoid writing who won each match but rather the highlights. I've never been to an, I guess you could say, independent show which hasn't been run by either WWE or NJPW so I did...
